An Important Move for Green Oriented Environment…
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality advocates a healthy urbanisation model against environmental problems threatening the World’s future and continues to be a pioneer with the projects and implementations it has developed. Lastly, the Metropolitan Municipality has received a grant of 150 thousand 386 Euros with its project “A Framework for Resistant Cities: Green Oriented Adaptation.” 
The Metropolitan Municipality takes steps for a greener İzmir and embraces another implementation, which will shape the city’s future. The project “A Framework for Resistant Cities: Green Oriented Adaptation” prepared together with İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and Landscape Surveys Association, was explained with its aims to the district municipality representatives and non-governmental organization members. The Metropolitan Municipality chose Balçova as its pilot area and following the study which will last 18 months, it will not only determine the green infrastructure of the city but also present the climate scenarios and models of the years 2050 and 2100 with this project. Following the project “A Framework for Resistant Cities: Green Oriented Adaptation,” which received a grant of 150 thousand 386 Euros from EU, İzmir’s “Green Infrastructure and Ecosystem” services guide will be prepared. 

Rail system investments will decrease carbon emission 
İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Dr. Buğra Gökçe, who made the opening speech of the meeting, indicated that the only local authority to take a step towards decreasing carbon emission among big cities is İzmir Metropolitan Municipality. In his words: “İzmir Metropolitan Municipality inquiries into nature-based solutions; it takes important steps to leave rubber wheel and start using electrical and rail system.Rail systems will not only make transportation comfortable but also decrease carbon emission to an important extent. In a similar vein, we have also made our bus fleet electrical. We also make full-scale investments which will convert solar power to electrical power.”
